A little about myself: my name is Kenneth Campbell Filson—yes, it’s my real name, not a pen name, though I must admit the idea of adopting one has crossed my mind. I hail from Ayr, a small town on Scotland’s west coast, but moving frequently has been part and parcel of my life, both as a child and as an adult. I came to relish the changes—fresh neighbourhoods, new schools, unfamiliar faces, and the thrill of new adventures. In my late teens and into adulthood, I picked up all sorts of jobs, always quick to move on when things became tedious and repetitive—same stuff, different day! That meant embracing new roles, meeting different people, and gathering unique experiences. However, all that changed when my children arrived; the urge to uproot and chase ‘the new’ had to be set aside because children thrive on stability.
And so, we come to the reason I write. Through storytelling, I find those new people, places, experiences, and adventures that once drew me from one chapter of my life to the next. I still recall the sheer exhilaration when I first put pen to paper—the sense of infinite possibility was so intense I could hardly sleep some nights! This is why I write: to keep exploring and embracing ‘the new’ I grew to love, albeit now within my imagination. In time, what begins in my mind finds its way onto the page—and, hopefully, into your imagination as well. Enjoy the journey into the new.

As I mentioned earlier about my enthusiasm for meeting new people, this absolutely includes my readers. You are the reason I share my stories, and nothing would delight me more than connecting with you through my social media channels, this website, or even by email. I’d love to hear your thoughts on my work or just have a chat about my journey—and if you fancy sharing your own experiences with me, that would be brilliant.
So don’t be a stranger, reach out and join me on this adventure!
